I totally agree. But it started with breaking the norms and pushing the boundaries. The failure of barely-there, normative guardrails was the canary in the coal mine and the harbinger of the systemic collapse.

If we survive this as a country and wrest control back from the dictator wannabes, there needs to be a concerted effort to codify into law all the things that were just left up to established norms or trusting people to do the right thing.
