Privatizing the post office would disproportionately impact rural and low-income communities by raising costs for these communities. Private carriers like UPS and FedEx already charge these rural, suburban & small towns more,
affecting 102 million Americans.

Citing “recent DOGE efforts on federal cost control,” Wells Fargo recommends that postal employees be given a “deferred buyout offer to leave or layoffs could ensue.”

Why target Wells Fargo? In February, Wells Fargo released a memo outlining pathways to privatizing the Post Office. If implemented, Wells Fargo’s plan for privatizing USPS would result in auctioning off of its most profitable parts, raising prices, and decimation of the unionized workforce.
