Beautiful art. I feel this implies though that the extinction was due to the Ali'i when sources I find indicate it didnt happen until after the Europeans arrived.

The Ali'i developed a system to catch the birds without killing them.

Then the "understory" is the dark and lush layer under that which is also the headboard of the bed. Then the "forest floor" as the mattress itself. Then finally there is a layer labeled under the bed, where the rain water is collecting and where the tree roots begin called the "soil horizons". I included this because I am tired of forest layer diagrams never including anything below the forest floor.

Ink pen line art and digital coloring because markers are expensive. Image is a mostly gray scale drawing of an islet above and below the waves. On top of the islet is what looks to be something like a glowing lighthouse, but we see it is just the tail end of a long and banded sea serpent - titanic in size. The only color is the red banding at the tail end which gradually fades to greyscale for camoflage against the rock. The face of the serpent is so far below the waves that nothing but its eyes are glowing in the stygian depths.
