That’s… not quite right when a country has its own fiat currency like the US. You have to think as the FED and Treasury as one. US just prints and invests its money where it needs to (social security, healthcare, infrastructure). All the “debt” is an exchange of USD for a “$” that lays interest.

The government debt (or bank) is not the same as a households debt.
