The ceremony was closed by some speeches highlighting all the work done by several amazing teams, keeping the satellite active and squeezing the last bit of data and science from it. 🧵

We have witnessed how step by step the Gaia systems where switched off, until the last command was sent and the signal from Gaia was lost.

For the occasion @esa.int has organized an event at its site in Darmstadt, ESOC, where the Gaia mission control was located. 🧵
