I love astronomy. The stars are far away, but they bring you closer to yourself, and every time you look up, it's a sinking of the soul.
The California Nebula, numbered NGC 1499, is an emission nebula located in the constellation Perseus. It is named because its shape looks like the state of California from Earth. It is the result of ultraviolet light emitted by stars making the surrounding gas glow, mainly showing bright red.
