Completely agree! If I had like 5 days off a year to go somewhere I'd cram as much as I could.

Hell, I've done it on several occasions myself! If I'm in a country for a few days, I'm Taylor-Swifting my way to see as much as possible!

I'm rereading this and it reads a lot more pointed than intended! Sorry about that, I deleted a bunch of context because character limit. I totally agree with you! #NotAKarenISwear.

Yeah it's all relative to where you are. In Spain, places like Austin or Portland could be "hidden gems" as most Spaniards going to the US typically do NYC, Florida, Cali and maaaaaaybe Chicago. But I would never write a post for a US audience saying: "Austin: A Hidden Gem to be Discovered in TX"

Obviously, I'm not coming for anyone with little vacation time (though you deserve much more!). To an EU-based person, Alicante or Cádiz wouldn't be considered at all "hidden," but since many US people don't venture there, it might fit the bill. It's still annoying and super US-centric, though.

I think "hidden gem*" should have the suffix "*where not many mainstream American tourists go (because "Europe in a week" equals hastily hopping from Paris to Rome to London), but that have otherwise been established destinations for decades.

So tired of those clickbait-y posts that go something like "Forget Barcelona and Madrid and Head to this Unknown Spanish Destination instead."

The destination is more likely than not Granada, Seville or Valencia, all super popular travel destinations.

And when I say "no need to visit everything," I mean *if you're not interested or wouldn't go there if it wasn't to tick it off a list (no shame for Cardboard and Jug fans), especially if the unappealing site is on the other end of town and, to fit it in, you forgot to plan for lunch.

Near impossible as a #travelblogger, but: Turn work mode off. Even if you plan to create a "Things to see in", there's no need to visit it all or for your schedule to look like:

9: City tour
10: Cathedral
12:25: Straw Museum
13: National Cardboard Gallery
14: Plastic Jug Museum

My brain is a remote worker: it works remotely from me, so anything that requires basic adulting, like freelancing, is out of the question!

I'd consider myself a sprint worker. I work 28-hour shifts, mainly starting Sun (or Wed) at around 4:00 a.m. Then, I die for 1.6 to 6 working days.

You maybe joking, but the Royal Collections have on display full on medieval churches or rather church walls and columns acquired from everywhere in Spain when they had this crazy idea to tax and repossess some assets from the Catholic Church.

OMG, so where do you keep your spare tapestries? I would literally DIE without my emergency Romanesque carvings, which I keep for the weekends!
