Everybody knows at least one person who looks like me.

Fairly typical geek.
The 1979 series "Mrs Colombo" isn't part of Columbo canon. It is Captain Janeway on the holodeck of Voyager.

I was just wondering: Tommy Wiseau, Ed Wood, Florence Foster Jenkins, William McGonagall.

Who else belongs on that list? People who loved their art and sucked at it, but were unaware that they suck, and audiences loved them for it enjoyed their art and never let them in on the joke?

The Metropolitan police in London have attacked a Quaker meeting house for the first time in their history, one of the most significant acts of violence against Quakers in England in hundreds of years.

a shame to publish a paper like this and not also publish video

"Video recordings were analysed by trained observers in order to determine the species of the animal in the wheel."

@ Johanna H. Meijer + Yuri Robbers, release the tapes !

In 2014 Dutch scientists left a hamster wheel outside, to see if wild animals would use it like their domesticated counterparts.

The answer: hell yes! 734 visits from wild mice - plus rats, shrews, slugs ("running" being subjective here) & even frogs and snails.

The apparent reason: fun. Just fun.

Romantic stories where, sure, the guy is great, but the actual appeal is the house:
1. Disney's Beauty and the Beast
2. Pride and Prejudice
3. The Book of Ruth
4. Busman's Honeymoon

Others?

Do you think "The Tiger" would have gone as viral as it did if Nael wasn't six when he wrote it? It's a good poem on its own, but how much of the degree to which it was and is compared to William Blake do you think is because of Nael's age at time of composition?

Question for discussion: is "you look like you would play lacrosse" a compliment or an insult?

I figured I probably should just post Luigi Mangione's manifesto, because the newspapers are trying to avoid publicizing it. So, here's what the papers are calling the demented rantings of an unhinged mind:

The so-called "manifesto" of the shooter of the CEO is only a couple paragraphs long. It is more like the abstract of a manifesto. But the point of it is that it doesn't have to be longer than that.

I've mentioned that the best part of working as an EMT-Basic is that it is an entry-level job that you are expected to move on from, unless you are someone like me who is doing it almost as a hobby. And that means that the people I work with are largely young people just starting out.
