Schadenfreude isn't real resistance, and that was not revolutionary art. I'm disappointed in Kendrick. We need cultural leaders who aim higher than Drake and subtle jabs at America.

(4/4) If you think that egomaniacs like Musk, Zuck, and Trump are threats to democracy but do not count Xi Jinping among them, you are a fool and a hypocrite. Chinese people are our ally. The CCCP is our enemy. It's bad when CCCP collects Chinese TikTok data, worse when collecting ours too. Ban it.

(3/4) they dream, they work hard, and they love. And just like us, their dysfunctional government is a serious threat to the world at large. Their empire is older, wiser, and will soon be more dangerous than ours. Like us, their government does not fully (or even largely) reflect their people.

(2/4) In the era of Twitter, TikTok, and MAGA, nuance is not a popular sport. But I beg my fellow humans to exercise nuance about China. Yes, in many ways, they are not so different from us: they have simple wants, for shelter, safety, and opportunity; they have rich art, intellectualism, & cuisine;

My point is that both are extremely dangerous. And, with respect, you're postulating a fictional world of self-contained nation states that neither interfere with nor aggress upon one another. In the real world, China is *at present* surveilling and breaching (i.e. threatening) our systems.

That's called survivor's bias. I've lived in China and love the Chinese citizenry, but power is the priority of the CCCP. This isn't an either/or situation; it's a both/and. To suggest that either the US or Chinese government can be trusted with TikTok is ludicrous.

Maybe it's a bigger threat for you, in particular. But - assuming the fascists leave office at some point - China is a greater threat to the collective citizenry. I don't understand why you seem bent on minimizing one threat or another. Big data in the wrong hands is always a threat.

I'd *like* to believe that with greater equity and economic security, most people would think and behave cooperatively. I *definitely* believe that we are living in a moment in history when MAGA voters could be easily radicalized against Canadians.
