It does resemble them, tho I think it might be coincidental as in most pics it looks asymmetrical, during the day/work the bun loosens and part of the twist comes undone and falls down. The m1ndanao styles look more intentional as the lock of hair looks like it's a part of the style.

I see :0 maybe that's why it fell out of fashion. It reminds me how even JP don't really use trad hairstyles except for certain jobs, ceremonies or for reenactment since they're very time consuming to do and maintain. As soon as western hairstyles came in most women switched over pretty fast 😅

As for the last pic, you can kinda see a by of how the bun might've been rearranged. It seems for the lower classes it might've just been twisted around the bun but for the fancier vers it could've been braided and pinned with decorative hair combs and pins...

I really love the variant with the flared 'wings'! I've been watching too many JP and KR traditional hair reconstruction vids and it makes me sad I can't find any for PH 😭 I'm so curious as to how it was done!! Given the extreme length of hair at the time I imagine hair extensions weren't rly needed
