everyone quotes the part of ur-fascism about saying your enemy is both strong and weak, but i read it recently and found this part striking. especially now, as the american people are out at these massive protests while, simultaneously, the regime says they are doing what "The American People" want
Ur-Fascism is based upon a selective populism, a qualitative populism, one might say. In a democracy, the citizens have individual rights, but the citizens in their entirety have a political impact only from a quantitative point of view — one follows the decisions of the majority. For Ur-Fascism, however, individuals as individuals have no rights, and the People is conceived as a quality, a monolithic entity expressing the Common Will. Since no large quantity of human beings can have a common will, the Leader pretends to be their interpreter. Having lost their power of delegation, citizens do not act; they are only called on to play the role of the People. Thus the People is only a theatrical fiction. To have a good instance of qualitative populism we no longer need the Piazza Venezia in Rome or the Nuremberg Stadium. There is in our future a TV or Internet populism, in which the emotional response of a selected group of citizens can be presented and accepted as the Voice of the People.

these cards have a 350W tdp, so that's not like a hard limit. these are *very* brief (0.1ms and 0.3ms) but it's apparently enough to crash the psu. so i wouldn't try matching your psu to the tdp

Big Tech Turns Its Attention to Nuclear Power Amazon kicked off the bevy of public announcements in March when it bought a data center adjacent to a nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania. The purchase came with 300 megawatts of behind-the-meter electricity. After closing the deal, Amazon requested another 180 MW. The request caused a dustup over energy fairness, and in November regulators rejected it, leaving Amazon looking for other options. Tech companies are watching the precedent-setting situation closely. Meanwhile, Microsoft was inking an agreement with Constellation Energy to restart a shuttered nuclear reactor on Three Mile Island—the site of the worst nuclear disaster in U.S. history. The plan, announced in September, calls for the reactor to supply 835 MW to grid operator PJM, and for Microsoft to buy enough of that power to match the electricity consumed by its data centers in the PJM Interconnection. Then in October, just two days apart, Google and Amazon both announced investments in startups developing SMRs. The smaller size and modular design of SMRs could make building them faster, cheaper and more predictable than conventional nuclear reactors. They also come with enhanced safety features, and could be built closer to transmission lines. SMRs are still at least five years from commercial operation in the United States. A year ago the first planned SMR in the United States was cancelled due to rising costs and a lack of customers. (China is building an SMR called the Linglong One on the island of Hainan, which is scheduled to be operational in 2026.) To move things along, Amazon led a US $500 million financing round to support X-energy in Rockville, Md., which is developing a gas-cooled SMR. The financing will help X-energy finish its reactor design and build a nuclear fuel fabrication facility. The plan is to build multiple SMRs producing at least 5 GW total by 2039. you can include ffmpeg in commercial products, but there are caveats. the ones of these that are easy to verify (including specific language on the site/terms) are not followed, so probably they are not doing that. the purchase does not seem to include the source code, a requirement under gpl/lgpl

According to a report on GameSpark Japan (via ResetEra user ILikeFeet), Sony is asking developers to remove violent depictions in video games. This comes from the Japanese development studio Cyberconnect2's President and CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama who states that Sony compelled the developers to make changes in the Naruto Ultimate series. One of the characters in the game, Minato Namikaze, was missing an arm in the original story. However, in the final game, his arm was present to comply with Sony's policies. He further mentions that the reason for that was that loss of limbs in characters that have a human appearance was not allowed by Sony Interactive Entertainment and not prohibited by CERO as such. CERO is the organization responsible for video game ratings in Japan. In the story, Minato is not technically a human considering that he was resurrected. However, considering that the character had a human appearance, it wasn't allowed. Quite notable of all is the fact that SIE has allowed such depictions in certain games. Matsuyama mentions that Dragon Ball Z Kakarot has a sequence in which Nappa's arm was dismembered. Surprisingly, this wasn't omitted from the game because there is a difference in impressions between the two games. What this difference isn't mentioned, but it's likely the fact that the Naruto series has a more realistic tone. Whether this policy is specific to Japanese video games isn't clear.

Hello, I have been a VISA cardholder for around 20 years. I have been a huge fan of the service! Every merchant I use accepts VISA, and I use it as my primary means of payment, with cash as a distant second. The network is massive, boasting 150 million merchants signed on, and I feel that breadth in my day-to-day life. I've never wondered if a particular place would take my VISA or not; they simply all do. Unfortunately, you have recently begun to shrink this network. Most recently, you have pressured the digital game merchants Steam and Itch.Io, and before that you have pressured subscription sites like Patreon and OnlyFans, along with Japanese outlets like DLsite, Melonbooks, and Niconico, to police their content well into the realm of protected speech in both the United States and Japan. I can understand having robust know-your-customer checks to ensure that you are not facilitating illegal transactions, especially in the wake of the Operation Choke Point investigation. However, it seems this latest round of forbidding legal transactions is driven by a group called Collective Shout, which is seeking to use your service to eliminate all LGBT media from all merchants, starting with the most objectionable (but legal) media as the tip of the spear. I emphatically request that you reverse course on this policy. The current US political environment may reward you for this, but it is burning down your credibility for short-term gain. You have enough influence to determine what kinds of art get made, and you are using it to make artistic expression narrower, and thus society worse. This is a road to misery for everyone. Please stop. I am not the only message about this in your inbox. The content you are targeting may be small in terms of transaction volume, but they are resourceful and dedicated.
