In collaboration with the Goryachev and von Dassow labs, we test models proposed to explain cortical excitability--generation of propagating waves of rho GTPase activity.

Energy partitioning in the Cell Cortex. Chen et al. Nat. Phys. 2024. 20:1824-1832.

This study--a collaboration with the Murrell lab--tracks the entropy production in the chemical (ie Rho GTPase) and mechanical (ie F-actin and myosin-2) subsystems of the cell cortex during cortical excitability.
