I like that. AI should be there to further enable and improve developers, not replace them.

r/csharp used to be better (yes I know I sound like an old man). I've been going there for over a decade but I'd say sometime in the last 3 or so years Reddit added loads of "Word_WordNumber" accounts and the quality took a nosedive.

I haven't found a good C# community to replace it :(

We have `params ReadOnlySpan<T>` these days for this!

Completely understandable. I'm forced to use cmake for some third-party integrations in my hobby project, so I build a C# script "frontend" for them for my own sanity.

Also more efficient I'd wager (assuming the top cap is sufficiently reflective). You can probably use half the power if you're not wasting 50% of your energy attempting to illuminate the sky.

This is always a tough one for me.

I wish we lived in a world where spending close to £0.1Tn on nukes was a stupid proposition. I like so much else of what you say Zack, even the bits I don't agree with.

But Ukraine shows us what happens when we give up our deterrents willingly, I fear.

Looks to me like there's a copy/paste error in the `Round` function; left is rounded twice. Is that right? 😅

I'm still on VS myself, I've been using Resharper for over a decade (I think) and I'm just so used to VS + R# that it's probably not worth it to move over.

I do use Rider (and other jetbrains IDEs) when I work on linux or macos though.

I think a lot of people (but not all) would say C#'s best editor is Rider!

That's per-week, not annual, but it's still not the burn she thinks it is.

Making her point with an industry famous for ridiculously overpaid primadonnas, rather than acknowledging the overwhelming majority of businesses have overpaid CEOs leeching off of the labour of their employees, is stupid.

Can't wait for this stupid AI bubble to burst!

Yeah it's moronic, I'm using a VPN for this reason.

What's worse is, things like `dotnet restore --no-cache` seem to have no effect. I have no idea what "no-cache" is meant to do but it doesn't apparently stop NuGet from using the cache, lol

😱

Lock-free programming is one of the hardest things to test, to reason about, and to debug.

I don't envy the developers that had to track that down...

Really interesting art style. I like it!

A modern replacement would be a button that somehow encapsulates working out which forced-adoption cloud service provider all your documents have been secretly saving to.

So perhaps a picture of Franz Kafka?

Same! I don't care if it's "bad practice", I think they're useful.
November 4, 2025 at 11:57 AM
Clarkson-style "my common sense is better than your science" anti-intellectualism.

Pathetic, and yet people keep falling for it...

How we ended up as a species in a place where someone as arrogant, unintelligent, and unthoughtful as Piers Morgan gets so much airtime...

Humanity is still barely more than animals flinging rocks in the mud.
