Goated update
November 5, 2025 at 12:38 AM
Alright, my gray brain-meat has finished making me write out the thoughts I *currently* have, so this is the end of the massive thread, y'all are safe

For now
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Some more rank screenshots for the end to keep anyone safe from above spoilers (including the other rank screenshots *just in case*)
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
I'm not the biggest fan of the several rank skip that happens, but I also kinda expected it. Would've been more surprised if they actually committed to a true 26 ranks of this system
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Thank god true fashion customization is back. Trying to come up with something new for each rank once I finally had cash was so fun
though the economy was also probably tighter than it needed to be overall
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
So from here I'll post my end game and rank up screenshots in reverse order so the final ones from early game are the ones visible at the end *just in case*
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
And that's about all the thoughts that are coming to me for now since I'm just talking to myself, though I'm sure I'll have others after I post this bomb of a thread
Definitely just waiting for others to finish the game so I can discuss it properly with others

In the end, big mixed bag on these new Megas. Plenty don't feel changed enough to be worth being Megas at all, but maybe my feelings will change on that with more time. We'll see what comes with the DLC, but if Mega Dragonite and Raichu X / Y are any indicators, it may be more weird head wings/tails

Starmie's is incredibly lazy but because it's such a hardcore Earthbound reference, and because of how ridiculous its run animation is, it does ultimately get a passing thumbs up from me
Meanwhile Feraligatr barely looks changed most of the time and ugly the rest, and Pyroar just looks terrible
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
New mega designs... man... overall, not feeling great on these. Most felt very lazy at best, like they were barely Megas with how little was adjusted.
There's of course some standouts like Drampa and Dragalge. Falinks is great but I can understand if not everyone liked it

The Dex already feels very limited, and I feel like if they fleshed out the sewers to become a proper zone more like the Depths in TotK (even though the Depths are also rather limited/basic/barebones), it would've helped in so many ways, especially with adding more Pokemon
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
I loved the sewers and Lysandre Labs areas, though I wish both (if not just the sewers) were more prominent, larger areas to put them more on-par with the overworld and to give you an optional change of scenery to break the pace sometimes when farming
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Lumiose was bigger than expected, still smaller than it should've been, about as filled/empty and anticipated, and just as tedious to get around as I hoped it wouldn't be
All I needed was a bike, a ride Pokemon, rollerblades again, something more than just the endless (slow) running around. Please.
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Music overall was okay. Some bangers in there I need to look back into, but otherwise it was the same couple themes on near endless repetition and it did get a bit exhausted.
I do like that there's some themes in there that I could clearly point at and say 'Persona' or 'Colosseum'-inspired
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Though at the very end, when Racine Construction makes a big ass scaffold course for you to cross to the next zone on your way to Zygarde... that was stupidly funny and I appreciate the commitment to the bit in that moment
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Scaffolding courses felt like a waste of time and space in my mind. They really didn't add anything substantial and while collecting screws got you the plushes that were solid buffs, I still didn't find enjoyment in these 'parkour' challenges, I just eventually got tired of being annoyed with them
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Oh, and thank god that health regens during battle now. Another incredible improvement from Legends Arceus
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Rogue Mega fights were cool though, and I appreciate that each had a unique mechanic to learn and adjust to. There was clear care put into those while the team continues exploring Raid ideas that they seem glued to continuing to make
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
[cont] and until your 'mon gets aggro, they just take stray hits while running to catch up with you
And man, speaking of Alphas, they were so obnoxiously balanced I can't stand it. Overtuned beyond reason just to make them challenging and I hate that.
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Every time the Rogue targets you your Pokemon just runs through the aftermath because they're stuck chasing after you too, which is beyond stupid. This was a problem with Alphas as well, since they love targeting the trainer for some reason, [cont]
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Instead, make them come back within a range of us, on any side, to begin casting. That way if they're on my left, they don't have to run all they way across me to start
Positioning your 'mon during the Rogue Mega fights was abysmal
October 20, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Once locked on, let us control the trainer with one stick and the 'mon with the other
Don't force the 'mons to come back to us to cast ranged moves. I hate that it always has to run back to stand to my front right to cast, that's nonsense
