There's also another game that is literally by some of the Golden Idol devs that's supposed to be the same mechanics but set in like a middle school or something, but I cannot recall the name of it right now :(

Oh, that's good to know. I started save-scumming every few investigation points if it didn't unlock things, which is just a far more annoying way to play so maybe I should just go with the flow more.

Played them both (as well as Obra Dinn). Lorelei and the Laser Eyes was absolutely one of my favorite games that year, so stylish and full of good puzzles.

Seance lets you "fail" the investigation phase in a number of ways which I'm finding frustrating, but I love the vibe of it. I should try Duck Detective, I kind of thought it was just a "normal" point n' click (which is also fine, but not the same thing).
