Power went out a bit today, I like the rain, though storms today were spicy.

If anyone is wondering why I'm like so scrambled on international logistics it's because there's no fixed logic to any of this. The toy industry is getting slaughtered right now.

A 3500% tariff is meant to bankrupt companies from orders already placed or mid shipment.

Around $90 is where America goes into a complete implosion, it literally can't function as a country without the rest of the world giving it coupons that pretend the dollar is worth more than it is.

Just watching markets flash red as the time zones go by like a tidal wave. It's gonna loop de loop back to the states again in a few hours.

This is going to get increasingly worse as the deadline approaches and if they actually go into effect it's going to be the largest currency shock ever.
April 4, 2025 at 12:02 PM
The core issue is the petrodollar, like 70% of usd is just used as a backstop for international trade, if you target trade itself it'll collapse the dollar price as everyone will switch to different currency.

It means goods will be 30% more expensive and also cost 30% more to import.
April 3, 2025 at 7:01 PM
This is like watching an asteroid slowly approach New York City, like, ignore everything else, if the petrodollar decouples from international trade America like instantly implodes as like 40% of its currency reserve is just international trade exchange.

I don't understand the weighted currency math they're using, also I've been informed yellow is the actual tariffs, so Taiwan is only getting 1/3rd of its export value cut. Though holy shit Vietnam you deserve better than this.
