Such a great idea but a missed opportunity. Rich pickings from Kid A and Amnesiac as a score but instead it played out like random jukebox cinema. Desperately wanted to love this being a big fan of both. Oh well, got to support indie cinema in the meantime.

Might not be your typical choice for a holiday read on the shores of Lake Garda but hey, horror is for all seasons. And what a belting opener! Thanks @johnlangan.bsky.social

Fab weekend on a self-directed collaborative writing retreat in the Cotswolds with my brother, working on an exciting horror project. Ended with a first draft of the first short story, which felt great.

You'll be glad to know that after a bit of a tidy up in the writing shed I was finally able to reunite Edgar with his leg that had been missing for some time. (Btw now it's reattached he doesn't look nearly as distressed)

But Dartmoor at this time of year! (Which my son innocently/accurately calls Darkmoor.) And yes, it's freeeeezing.

Morning all.

So lucky to be able to spend a few days away holed up in a cottage on Dartmoor that dates back to the 14th century. Writing, walking, eating, talking. First time here and everything about it is creatively inspiring.

Not a player of games at all but... my wonderful wife has coaxed me in with ghosts, psychics and visions to see in the new year.

Another great Christmas book pile tbr (+ handsome hardback journal). Just read Wake and started Abbott's Keep (I love the small/indie/self published finds). Reeeeally looking forward to Jenni Fagin's memoir Ootlin, having loved Luckenbooth and Hex. Great writer.

Tis the season for accidental book purchases for yourself when you're supposed to be buying for others. (Very happy to get my hands on the Campbell collection. The Whitehead book is for the joys of research.)

One of the most exciting things about this wintery season is wondering what little book pile I'll end up with on the 25th (thanks to wonderful folk who know me well). Such as...⤵️

Give me a single image from a film that immediately makes you hear the song from the soundtrack playing in your head.

Babes in Toyland (1934) should come with a viewer discretion warning.

Sitting outside the wonderful High Pavement in my home town, in the rain, blankets provided, awning overhead, wind blowing, December evening. Totally unplanned night. Ended up in a local exhibition and bought a gorgeous piece of art. Bliss.
