well anyway this is how i feel personally tbh
a post i reblogged on tumblr. the original post reads: decemberwinter Mar 17 “why do you ship them? I thought the ship wasn’t canon?” bro we’re talking about fictional characters, who don’t actually exist in real life, from a media that focuses solely on fictional events that are not real either. so what if these two made-up characters didn’t kiss in their source material? they have lots of nasty gay sex on archive of our own and thousands of novel length slow burn enemies to lovers fics written about them. the fanon content at this point far exceeds the whole canonical franchise. the problem isn’t “it’s not canon” the problem is that you don’t allow yourself to let go of canon and enjoy the wonder of fan contents that are just as good / valid -- my tags below are: #canon bends to MY WILL!!!!#k8 yaps#tho admittedly (personally) what I enjoy is finding 'loopholes' or ways to make#my seemingly “non canon” ideas fit within and make sense in canon#and like 99% of the time i can absolutely find canon to back my batshit ideas up - you just have to be creative#and thats what rly grinds my gears about Lore Strict mfers#they don't actually adhere to lore - they adhere to only the strictest reading of the lore in their own head#and they refuse any sort of creative interpretation that is in fact actually supported by - get this - canon#I can't COUNT how many times i had what would be considered 'lore breaking' aspects to my FFXIV ocs and then an expansion or two later#the lore I had written based off using my creativity and noggin would subsequently be backed by actual canon in the game!!!#surprise lore strict asshole! it is actually I that is lore compliant and not you!
