2) Conversely: an endorsement system! If someone helps me in battle or gives me supplies, I should be able to give them a thumbs up. And ideally endorsed players are more likely to be matched up with each other.

1) Put a bounty on the head of raider-killers. If a player can kill another player, okay... but mark them on their next run. Being the "bad guy" now is all reward and no risk. (Sure you lose loadout on death, but so do the "good guys." So then being the good guy feels like drawing the short straw.)

The Eurogamer review greatly covers the AI thing, but about the PvP, I want to say two things could help balance it:

Much of the hand wringing, imo, is over a critic explicitly saying they are judging the moral fabric of a piece of art because of the tools used to create it and it’s making some folks feel uncomfortable and shamed. The people who feel that way should sit with that feeling.
