It's so disappointing and scary when someone you thought was safe turns out to be hateful. It makes me doubt my intuition for trusting them, but I think the best of people til they give me a reason not to. Then it feels real shitty when they give a reason! "Beliefs" are increasingly actionable. :(

It's now clicking for me why my social studies classes avoided modern history. The teachers were still too traumatized and it wasn't far enough out to make sense of what was important when it all felt important to them. At least... that's how I'd feel in their shoes 😵‍💫🫩
