I sincerely enjoyed reading ‘Vera, or Faith’ by Gary Shteyngart mostly for the characters seen through the eyes of Vera. When the dam finally bursts, that’s what made it stick.

The old anatomy papers have their occasional gothic charm:

(Probably) dumb and (certainly) ignorant question that I’m not even sure I’m asking correctly: Does it matter to the analysis if there are more than two tensions between two things?
Are 2 things with 3 tensions (“tri”-alectical) formally distinct (in some analytic way) from 3 dialectical tensions?

It’s true. Avoidance as a therapeutic approach tends to the ‘ameliorated’ rather than ‘solved’ by only drawing attention every other year. One could argue that exposure therapy is the thing and try a biannual variation.

My favorite thing about the book at first was the caste names (although I think I read it as a novella first… maybe in one of Asimov’s anthologies?? )
