My first aid knowledge is in dire need of a refresher. It took me a long time to even process that this was an attempt to apply a tourniquet.

They are useing silencers because they think it looks cool, and don't understand that they don't work like in the movies. They are evil, malicious tyrants for sure, but don't forget that they are also deeply, profoundly insecure and stupid.

I'm sure the worst people in the world will be totally normal about this.

This works, but i find it turns onions into paste, and can make weird colors. Still useful, but a consideration. Also, combined with high heat+deglazeing, this MIGHT get you 40 minutes cook time. You can speed it up, but theres limits.

Find a trash can with a lid that lays flat inside a lip, and opens via a foot pedal. I had the exact same problem, and it solved the problem entirely. I can share the one I got but that feels bot-like, so ill share only if thats useful.

Nitrited carbon steel pans. All the advantages of cast iron and carbon steel, almost Teflon level non-stick, but its a property of the steel treatment in nitrogen, so theres no coating to flake off, go bad, or get into your food.

I wonder if the fact that this incentivises, or at least removes disincentives, to actually try to commit acts of violence against ICE is an unforseen consequence, or part of what they are trying to do.

US uses both, probably curtains more often. However, the issue is comparing drapes and curtains to each other, versus comparing them to carpet, and useing carpet in the metaphor...tracks better anatomically.

Also, I think the UK uses, "Matching collars and cuffs" more often?
December 31, 2025 at 12:35 AM
I actually have a distinct memory of it being curtain, which absolutely does not make sense the way, "Carpet" does. I clarified that in a response.

100% sleazy and inappropriate. Which can be fine in certain contexts, but it is absolutely dirty
December 30, 2025 at 6:58 PM
English language. I can only confirm it exists in America, though I think the UK at least has a similar equivalent.
December 30, 2025 at 5:29 PM
So, the expression can also be, "Does the carpet match the drapes?". Which is both a better saying that makes more sense, and makes more sense in this context
December 30, 2025 at 12:45 PM
There is an English idiom, "Does the curtain match the drapes?". It is used to ask a woman if their hair color on the top of their head matches their pubic hair color. It can be a lewd way to ask if they dye their hair, or a way of implying that you are curious to see them naked.

I'll tell you one thing, she's not building a playhouse for the children.

Oh...oh no. No, thats not how that works...

The other line-crossings are things that they can pretend arnt real, because they seem distant and diffuse. This is cruelty towards a guy that they have seen on TV, who suffered something that is very personal and non-political. They can't pretend the stakes are the same as a sports game

Just overcooked yolks. Poorly made, and certainly unappetizing, totally fair to not eat it and complain, but it won't hurt you

The problem with Utilitarianism is that it is 100% correct because it is 0% useful at defining utility. Incurious morons can plug in whatever definition of utility benefits them, and pretend like the resulting moral system is scientifically perfect, instead of shit they made up.

If the two decisions are decideing to rape a Monitor Lizard, and eat a Monitor Lizard, he is technically correct.

I especially am thinking of VNs where the choices are limited to nonexistant. What are the differences in the experience of watching a route, versus playing an identical one? There is something to be said about the weight of being the one to make the choice: thinking of how DDLC screws with players.
November 25, 2025 at 7:58 PM
Literally true, but to what extent can you meaningfully experience a game by watching it? Silksong may be, "Barely to not at all", but what about a visual novel?
November 25, 2025 at 6:07 PM
Core, essential everywhere: Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, a pie of some sort.

Secondary, but core in many households: macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, apple pie.

A households whose only core dishes are the universal core is boring
