If you pass by Nottingham by any chance, it would be lovely to visit the library of the Institute of Name Studies located in the English Department. That’s the seat of the English Place Name Society and they have the most comprehensive county surveys. 🥳

English place-names are always fascinating. 🥰 The ‘ing’ in Nottingham also differs from the ‘ing’ in Donington, the former is from ‘-inga-’, ‘family or followers of’, the latter is from the connective particle’-ing-’, ‘associated with’.
