Writer, teacher, armchair adventurer, not-very-good musician, adored by my dog, and loved by some others.
Do you ever wonder about the who, where, what, and especially the why of the life you are in right now? Yes? Me too. That's why I wrote Searching for Here: Mapping an Unfenced Life. It isn't about me having the answers. It's about me having the questions.

I feel like there's a better way to refer to women, other than "moms." As in, "She's a mom who is trying to find healthy food at the grocery store."
Even if they are actual mothers. It's so...reductive.

For now at least, the people still have their voices — and they’re speaking. Politicians of every stripe would be well-advised to listen. A Yakima Herald-Republic editorial.
Opinion: Message at Yakima rally was loud, clear — and civil

At the doctor's office waiting room. A guy just set his next appointment for a year from today. Tuesday afternoons are best. Now that's resilience.

As a teacher, I see lots of names and notice lots of naming trends. Not all of them good.

Hope you enjoy this brief essay about small town life, with a smattering of Stephen Crane added in.

Yes! I made the way past the trolls under the bridge, aka tech issue. I'm here and very glad to contribute. What I'll contribute exactly, I have no idea. But I'm sure we'll have a grand time.
