I just struggle with having too much shown / available to me at once without some kind of anchor point I can rely on. One major exception to that rule is my fav game, La-Mulana. That game was full of a lot of stuff all at once. The only difference was that it was ALL connected in some way.

I mean I've experienced a lot of other games as well. I loved AC Black Flag and had so much fun singing along with the shanties. The AC games feel much less open world to me because the mission points still exist. Something like Tears of the Kingdom is just flat open.

I was gonna say "But Cuphead" until I thought about it for a bit and the rubber hose style was and still is kind of a popular novelty. Idk, I'll just concede that my opinion is bad cuz I played Destiny for 9 years :p

I've watched Avatar before, just never played HZD. You do bring up some good points though. I was trying to find other games that came out in 2017 to do a comparison, but its hard to find one that compares to a new AAA IP.

Yeah that’s what I find so weird! Both pieces of media had huge numbers but such little long term impact.

Yeah but a lot of people played it, right?

Ye :3 Is Horizon big in your circles? If so, why?
November 5, 2025 at 6:10 PM
I guess a better way to put it would be a long-lasting, major cultural impact.

Oh, the connection I made was both are a fun show off of graphical fidelity and hit their mark. Only problem is, from my perspective, both don’t have as much of a grip on their zeitgeist as much as the other pieces of media in their field.

Nah, open world games aren’t my cup of tea

And Horizon: Zero Dawn is the Avatar (blue people not TLAB) of gaming.

I feel that idea isn’t too far fetched considering King’s Fall has 2 encounters that let 1 guardian have a fun hero moment. But if you mean recent raid design, then I get your point.

What kept me playing for so long was the gunplay. The gunplay is so tight and solid that I don't blame them for not wanting to switch engines. But if switching engines allows for more robust features and fun, it may be a good trade-off. Besides, I doubt it would be insanely difficult to replicate it

Yeah, the direction that Bungie took their company has basically hard blocked them from adding anything risky. The only problem is that they need a big risky update to take Destiny in a direction that reignites that storied loot chase. I've always loved Destiny for the deep lore it has.

My fav tiny thing is in-game midi instruments. Could mess around and add some more lore to the races by getting race-inspired instruments. I know that is so far out of the spectrum of Destiny as a whole, but imagine the BM clips in trials lol.

SE was 100% meant to be a day 1 raid experience. Verity could have totally Been easier if they added more displays and dunk/receive points. Outside of raids, there is so much to offer. Player housing, ship combat, we had fishing, but that was ripped from us.

The dunker is busy getting a buff while their friends are doing add clear and alignment. After that, its a fun nyoom up to the face of the boss to break their immunity shield. Boss does a stun animation that shows his crit spot and everyone does DPS. Easy, simple, fun, and adds randomness.
