Usually a bit of both.

The effectiveness of these narratives is that the smarter people you're preaching to understand exactly what you're doing and love it. The morons who don't understand what you're doing will accept it uncritically.

Either way the narrative gets empowered.

It's bizarre to see so much of the criticism be down to "this platform is great because it didn't operate like a smart business, now it needs to operate like a smart business in PRECISELY THESE WAYS in order to please me!"

(oh and sometimes you can just get kind of silly with it :P )

So yeah, no, I really enjoy the various combo structures you can puzzle together in this game

But that won't always work either! You'll be up against a mix of heavy enemies, blocking enemies, armored enemies and you have to adapt:

Then you later get the chance to really ability spam to keep combos going on heavier opponents:

I do actually think that combo looks sick but something I like about this game is that there are good reasons to implement variety into your combos. Like, you have some basic ones that still look pretty nice:
