untimely, differant, anachronistic...
A puzzle difficulty chart I made for wyfio.

Solving the 40 >5% puzzles would see you reach the public leaderboard.

Players that push further, typically team up and share ideas. A bit like life I suppose. You can find help in our Discord🙂

The scale attractor includes UV themes (making use of physical media), image overlays, a scavenger hunt and multi-password puzzles.

5 of the 6 puzzles here have <2% solve rates, so if you can solve these, you can probably solve pretty much anything on the gameboard.

All puzzles at the plasma attractor require a URL change (visible from within the gameboard) to progress in some way. There are 8 puzzles at this attractor, but solving all of them will involve >30 steps.

At the spiral attractor, where the puzzle hints towards sorting a list in ascending order, that is ascending order from top to bottom - once you’ve figured out what values to assign to each list item that is...

The diatom attractor puzzles use image maps. Players review section specific tooltips, and then select or arrange the displayed information in the intended way to progress...

Integrates diatom art from Klaus Kemp and Johann Diedrich Möller.

Chaos attractor: to solve the puzzles here, you'll need to figure out the words or names contained within the randomised grid. As with many other wyfio puzzles, some research is likely required. But research of what exactly? That's over to you...

The beholder attractor contains stereograms that once viewed - with or without tools - will reveal something as a hint towards a required password, or next steps. This is the most well solved attractor, with even the hardest puzzle having a 10%+ solve rate.

It's a year to the day since 'the code' was last solved. 113 other puzzles have been solved at least once.

Objectively then, it is one of the hardest puzzles on the gameboard. Do you like hard puzzles?

Reminiscent of the earlier internet, a simpler time of self-discovery freer from pernicious influences, I've added a landing page counter to the wyfio homepage.

Only this one counts puzzles solved. 6,627 to date🧩

v3.1 13/07/25: [110 available solves] new plasma and fern puzzles. Drawing back over a line on the fern grid will now undo it. Multiple changes to attractor graphics.

Whilst working on some new puzzles, I took the opportunity to give a new look to some of the attractors. This is the new 'Chaos' attractor, now based on a classical Lorenz attractor with the layout of the puzzles nodes adding something extra 🧩🦋

Researching a blog post earlier and happened upon 'acid-base poker' which sounds like some yet to be invented techno themed experience.

I want wyfio to be a 'forever' puzzle. The gameboard has been updated over 50 times since launch, with over 100 bespoke challenges set.

It's not really about 'completion', it's more about progress, exploration and phenomenological weirdness.

v3.0 22/06/25: [108 available solves] new plasma and fern puzzles, improved layout of fern nodes, misc graphical changes.

Every puzzle on the wyfio gameboard has been solved by somebody - but no one has solved every puzzle (yet)🙃.

The difficulty curve is steep. Insight, ingenuity and patience are you friends.

Will you figure it out?

Interested in designing and publishing your own puzzles?

Of the 106 puzzles currently on the wyfio gameboard, 10 have been submitted by players.

Solve 30 puzzles anywhere on the gameboard and we can talk 🙂🧩

Of the 5 new puzzles released yesterday, 2 remain unsolved...

'death and taxa' is open to all and can be found at the chaos attractor

'vita post mortem' can be found at the spiral attractor, and is unlocked after solving the 'descent' puzzle

New puzzles across five attractors, presenting the first opportunity this year to land a 'first solve' :)

v2.9 01/06/25: [106 available solves] new puzzles in wave, chaos, luminescence, spiral and diatom attractors.
June 1, 2025 at 12:54 PM
Felt inspired to work on some new puzzles. WIPs lined up for wave, chaos, ascension and luminescence attractors. So likely to be 105+ available solves as of next update (TBC).

In the meantime there's still more than enough for almost anyone 🙃

Doesn't every book contain some unknowable and unrealised potential? I cannot resist the call of a second-hand book shop and chance encounters with the obscure, unusual and 'forgotten'...

Idioms don't often translate well. I know that. But in designing some puzzles, I had overestimated the ubiquity of the 'wild goose chase' for a wider international player base.

So if you find anything vaguely 'Goosey', well...

This puzzle 'X X' has gone unsolved for almost a year now. No other puzzle has stood for so long. This was not intentional.

Thousands of attempts have been made, and yet its secrets remain elusive...

Wyfio isn't a puzzle app. It doesn't even support mobile. There are no ads. No loot boxes. It's hard. Patience and ingenuity are your friends.

You will learn new things and encounter strange coincidences. It's anti doom-scrolling. A battle against brain rot.

There are ghosts here...
