I do escape then box of the apps and start actually texting someone or go on a date all these concerns are immediately forgotten and I’m right back at my best: when I can connect with people. At the end of the day that’s what matters. I think it’s ok to get lost in the sauce as long as I can find

Unfortunately my silly little brain doesn’t have an off button for things like this though so I will continue to ruminate on how to best use my time and not waste the time of others when I’m partaking in the dating app hellscape.

I’m a stubborn fuck so I’m simply not gonna use that shit, but I can’t shake the feeling that they made this change based on actual data and not market imitation and I am in fact hurting my chances by not using them. I do concede that such a worry is an indicator that I’m thinking way too much.

So in one fell swoop, bumble has effectively removed their only gimmick and exacerbated their second worst problem in exchange for SLIGHTLY improving actual worst problem: that there are too many layers of friction and they removed just one by letting the guy message first.

Now this may be anecdotal, but I’m feeling like bumble’s very already real problem of women still being unwilling to send the first message and the match dying as a result is now wildly exacerbated by the fact that many of these people want the guy to take the initiative with these opening moves.
