exactly. hate hearing stories where people let their pet BP or corn snake go outside. even if it’s non invasive it’s sad to see

as a pet only keeper i can say without a doubt they’re one of my favorites when it comes time to feed them 😂

you would think i feed them once a month but i promise they are well fed 💀💀

a combination of that and the examination of recently deceased individuals. they would check bowel movements as well. most recently deceased ones had autopsy’s performed and found majority rodents!

if GTP’s got the size of coastal carpets we’d be doomed 🤣thankfully they stay slim and don’t get as big bodied

also fun fact recent studies have shown their diet includes far more rodents than initially thought! it seems that while they do eat birds their diet is heavily rodent based just like other snakes. they’ll come down at night and patrol their nearby trees for a meal!

it in general has a bit more sting. he was a bit of a pain to tame down as he wasn’t very socialized but since i’ve got him i’ve worked with him to where he’s comfortable with me now. he for sure drew some “paint” we’ll call it. first time i held him i got bit about 6 times or so

i’m obsessed with ETB’s!!! i wanted to get one but the market on them is completely in the tank. gtp’s are the next best thing though. I plan on breeding them as well to help the community have more of this gorgeous species!

the locality plays a large factor as well!!! for the most part baik GTP’s are the most defensive whereas aru and sorong are known to be a bit more mild. the one i own is a biak and while they can be crazy they can be tamed just as the rest.

gtp’s and ETB’s in general seem to just be a lot more defensive but given the right amount of TLC anything’s possible!

this little guy gave me hell his first week or so with me but has made so many improvements! went from 5-6 strikes and pooping on me every handling session to 0 strikes and no more pooping!

this guy has single handedly put a stain on the venomous community. i can’t say much for them because i am not a venomous keeper i don’t keep up well with it but i know he’s put a lot of negativity into that community and spread so much misinformation.

definitely glad to see someone who truly cares about the animal over profit! i go about my process the exact same way. rather invest the money i make into getting a new pair/fresh female who’s ready than rush a second clutch on an unhealthy animal.

sounds about right! i went from getting bit 5+ times to just recently getting bit none! not sure how long that will last but we will see haha
