Just noticing that almost every game that drops Chinese translation support immediately gets plummeting reviews. lol

There’s a simple equation for game translations.

Early Access Game + Professional Chinese Translation = >Mixed Reviews on Steam

Early Access Game - ANY Chinese Translation = <Mostly Negative Reviews on Steam

Japanese Game - English Publisher = Fan Translation 10-20 Years Later

I feel like I only felt that bottom mood when I was solo-devving the parts I’m not very great at. When I’m working with people that complete that puzzle, it’s more often I’m the top reaction. 🥰

This is innovative work. Definitely be prepared to receive recruitment from EA, Ubisoft, Activision/Blizzard. Next move will be to make gaming incredibly short-form to fill the TikTok void. lol

One I learned from creating a small handful of board/card games is that my players like to have choice, but not too much. lol

Gotta give ‘em a nice mix of restrictions to spice up their decision making.

Minecraft did this early on. Being an innovator and getting millions of eyes on your project via advertisement towards people with know-how on navigating the internet is probably the only viable way you could sell your game without distribution oligarchy help.

It’s doable but not easy.

There’s nothing stopping a studio from hosting a store in their website. Except maybe hosting costs. Also the unlikelihood the average consumer will actually use that website.

Steam, GOG, Epic are just simpler to implement and provide advertisement ingrained in its platform’s discovery features.

In my discover weekly, occasionally I don’t pay attention and if the vibe was good enough during the song I go back and just add it to my liked.

I have a stack of indie games in my Steam library I have in a filter called "Break In Case of Boredom"

Not to mention the amount of games in my GamePass queue.

Crow Country! It's a short game, probably knock it out in a day. I heard someone call it an Introductory Into Horror Games.

Super recommend!

Last time I went to Applebees (3 years ago), they had a TouchTunes radio. I spent about $12 on tokens to load up All I want for Christmas is You as many times as possible. It went on for about an hour and some change straight.

3 separate times someone went tot he kiosk to try to change it. 😈
