This is beside the point, but Chris Higgins is a gem. I grew up in St. Louis, and Chris has hosted a weather blog on his own dime since the early '00s. That forum was the single biggest push for me to pursue meteorology, and Chris took the time to give me career advice before heading to undergrad.

Just wanted to chime in with agreement from your Washington neighbors! Not great for our expanding long term drought in the Cascades.

I am a bit more optimistic about the start of fire season down here, though, it just takes one decent wetting rain through early June for a soft-reset on the fuels.

It can difficult to communicate drought in an area where 50-60" of rain over 12 months falls 20"+ short of normal!
