HEADS UP FRIENDS: It gets hot this weekend (6-21-25) with highs near 92-94. But next week highs will run 96-98 with the feel like temps on average around 100-105 and spots near 108-110. Make sure you stay hydrated with water, take breaks, never leave pets or children in hot cars.

Showers and storms are moving into the mountains and foothills right now. This line will move into the Piedmont Triad area later this afternoon evening. Some could have strong to severe winds along with the possibility of localized flash flooding. Stay weather aware this evening.
June 19, 2025 at 5:28 PM
Thur won’t be too bad. Iso to widely sct T-showers possible. It’ll be warm &humid with a mix of sun & clouds.A front approaches by Fri bringing a line of sct storms Fri afternoon/evening.
This line could have strong to severe wind gust and hail. Tornado threat is low, but also non zero as well.
May 28, 2025 at 10:13 PM
Cloudy and cooler for the weekend with scattered showers returning Sunday. Then widespread rain with a low from the Gulf of Mexico moving in by Monday-Wednesday. Across the Carolinas we are looking at 2-4" of rain with pockets of higher amounts

A look at your 7-day forecast for the Piedmont Triad area:
A chance for a few strong to severe storms Thursday and a slight chance for a few t-showers Friday.Drier and cooler for the weekend but staying mostly cloudy. Monday &Tuesday look wet with more widespread rain. 7 day rainfall potential 2-4".
May 7, 2025 at 10:16 PM
0.5"-1.5" of rain will be possible across the Carolinas through the next 5-7 days. Today and Friday just isolated to widely scattered. But its looking pretty wet with scattered to widespread t-showers Saturday and scattered showers Sunday and then isolated t-showers Monday and Tuesday.
May 1, 2025 at 6:57 PM
High pressure will move offshore this week, keeping us warm and mainly dry. By Wednesday we'll have a chance or a few isolated t-showers through Friday. Overall rainfall forecast shows under 0.50" of rain for the Carolinas.
April 28, 2025 at 8:05 PM
As expected, our front is more south today, keeping us dry. The mainly stalled front, will lift back to the north Thursday allowing for better chances for isolated to widely scattered showers and storms. But still a lot of dry times and sunshine.
April 23, 2025 at 6:45 PM
Overall tonight through Sat AM we are looking at 0.25"-0.75" of rain area wide. But iso spots could see up to 1". Much needed rain &of course will help clear some pollen. It'll be a chilly rain with highs FRI in the 50s. But the way the atmosphere is set up, small hail &gusty winds will be possible.
April 10, 2025 at 8:15 PM
As of 3pm Monday 4-7-25, 1/2”-1.5” of rain across the Piedmont with more to come through the evening.
April 7, 2025 at 7:14 PM
Much needed rain continues over the Piedmont. Helps with the drought and the pollen 🙌.
Rain will continue most of the day until this evening. Very low risk for severe storms but I’ll be watching especially eastern NC this afternoon.
April 7, 2025 at 3:27 PM
Check out this wedge we've got in the mountains/foothills. 60s to near 70 in the Triad, low/mid 70s south and east of the Triad. Warm front draped across the Triad is creating this temp gradient. We are also seeing dense fog in the foothills and mountains that'll be a problem overnight as well.
April 2, 2025 at 8:18 PM
Very high pollen counts over the next several days. Despite taking my allergy meds and nose spray, I've started to really feel it today. Hopefully the meds work and it doesn't get too bad. Scattered t-shower chances increase Sunday. Hopefully we can wash some of this pollen away then.
April 2, 2025 at 8:07 PM
Our Wed will be a bit interesting with a warm front pushing in from the south. This will bring mostly cloudy skies &some mist/drizzle especially NW of the Triad.
Ridge of High pressure builds in off the SE coast by THU into the weekend. This will bring a “heat wave” & keep most storms away until SUN
April 1, 2025 at 8:08 PM
Still have some strong storms moving through the Carolinas, especially in SC but thankfully we have really escaped much of the severe wx in the Triad. Still can't rule out a few strong/severe storms through 8pm, but this is turning out to be mostly much needed rain &not a whole lot of severe wx.

Here is your 4:40pm 3-31-25 Radar update: Some good news for you, our first batch of storms have remained calm with some gust of 20-30mph &heavy downpours but nothing severe. The 2nd batch to the SW has very strong and severe wind gust with some rotation, but that looks to mainly stay to our south.
March 31, 2025 at 8:47 PM
Here is your 10am severe weather update (3-31-25) SPC has trimmed back the level 3 of 5 to mainly the Piedmont. We’ll see a broken line of storms, some strong to severe after 2pm through about 8pmish. Damaging straight line winds and hail main threat. But an iso tornado can’t be ruled out.
March 31, 2025 at 2:01 PM
There is still some minor uncertainty on clouds and morning rain. IF that happens, the severe weather threat will be lowered. But right now, indications are we see this line redeveloping in the afternoon from the Foothills to the Piedmont from Noon to 6pm and then into ENC from 4pm-9pm
March 30, 2025 at 8:57 PM
BREAKING: The severe weather risk has increased for the Carolinas for Monday. There is now a higher 10% chance for a tornado within a 25 mile radius. Timing will be afternoon and evening for the Piedmont. Please stay weather aware and make sure you have your severe weather plan in place
March 30, 2025 at 12:36 PM
Dry & warm Sat. Sun we are expecting sct showers.By Mon a strong front moves into the Carolinas. There is a "slight" risk, a level 2 out of 5 for strong to severe storms. Timing looks early to mid afternoon for the Piedmont. Straight line wind look to be the main threat, but an iso tornado possible

Was up super early this morning filling in for our sister station WLOS in Asheville. Now Toffee and I are enjoying the sunshine and 70s!!
Happy Friday.
March 28, 2025 at 6:05 PM
Wildfire smoke front WNC and surrounding areas could push into the Piedmont creating hazy conditions this afternoon. It'll be warm and breezy today, more cloud cover Saturday and then rain chances Sunday and Monday. Severe weather threat increases by Monday afternoon.
March 28, 2025 at 10:59 AM
We desperately need some rain in the Carolinas and it looks like we'll get that Sunday and Monday. Much needed rain especially in WNC up to 1" possible with pockets of higher amounts. But this rain does come with a chance for strong to severe storms Monday. Stay Tuned.
March 26, 2025 at 9:53 PM
Cold Thursday morning with temps in the mid 30s. Warming into the weekend with rain showers expected Sunday and then a chance for strong to severe storms as we head into Monday.
