Clair Obscur is your 2025 #GOTY! Well deserved, #SandfallInteractive.

It’s ironic thinking back on #SquareEnix saying turn-based RPGs have no market. First #BG3, now #Expedition33 proving them completely wrong.

The players have spoken.

I finally did it!

I've been linking my blog posts here recently to get more readers, but mostly because I wanted to integrate Mastodon directly into my site as my comment engine.

The system is now live. Replies to this post will appear on my blog!

The backlash against Larian for using AI is disappointing. Not every AI implementation is "slop." Using tools to speed up data search or workflows is just smart engineering, not laziness. Context matters.

We all know 16GB is the new bottleneck. From the "Electron Tax" to unoptimized games, 32GB is the necessary baseline for 2026.

I wrote a deep dive on the technical drivers behind this shift and where PWAs fit in.

Podman offers a truly open-source, daemonless alternative to Docker that runs rootless by default. It’s cleaner, safer, and free.

Rothschild’s lawyers got caught using #AI to generate a legal brief against #Valve. The result? 13+ fake cases and fabricated quotes from judges.

Valve exposed the hallucinations in a filing, and the troll's lawyers are now facing potential sanctions (and humiliation).

Looks like several sites are down today due to ongoing Cloudflare issues. I’ve had to temporarily disable the CDN on my personal site to bypass the problem and get back online.

The new Steam Machine revives the 8GB VRAM debate.

Why do modern games demand 8GB+ VRAM, yet look blurrier than older ones?

The paradox: We need VRAM for high-res textures, but then TAA & upscalers make the final image soft. Ironic.

Never thought writing about Steam's monopoly drama would inspire me to defend why the #SteamDeck is still king in 2025! What a productive day. #Steam #Valve #Gaming

There's new drama about #Steam being a monopoly. While technically true, it really isn't. #Valve builds tools like #Proton while rivals prefer other "sketchy" strategies. Read more what I think at www.richardorilla.website/steam_monopo...

It is almost the end of 2025 and fortunately #SteamDeck is still the king of handhelds: #SteamOS polish, killer value, and indie gems dominate the scene. Read more at www.richardorilla.website/steamdeck_is...

Look closely in the background: the "BOON/TOBIAS" sign.
That's not the only thing to look out for. Someone is about to get uppercutted onto the tracks. A true classic.

Remember when games came complete?
Mortal Kombat: Deception had over 400 unlockables. Costumes, videos, even entire characters... all earned in-game, not bought. This was long before the age of DLC.

One of my favorite things in Ultima V, aside from the great story, is the journey into the Underworld. It's a shame not everyone could enjoy the amazing soundtrack back then, but thankfully there are more ways than one to get that music into the game now 😉

Nintendo's controversial summoning patent specifically covers throwing an item to summon a character, which then enters a battle mode.

Clearly this is a targeted move against Palworld, which uses a similar mechanic.

I seriously underestimated GOG's modding support. It’s brilliant!

Their standalone, pre-configured mod installers make things so easy, providing a clean separation from the base game.

Pretty convenient when playing total conversion mods but wanting to have access the base game.

Myth: Retro handhelds are just for pirating.

Fact: Linux-based devices like the Anbernic RG351V are versatile emulators that can play a huge variety of games, from classic consoles to old DOS titles. They're a legitimate way for enthusiasts to enjoy their retro library. #RetroGaming #Emulation
