Red Wings draft pick Carter Bear had the 2nd best shooting percentage among the top 65 scorers in the league (0.95 PPG or higher).

Only Andrew Cristall, a 20 year old 2023 draft pick had a higher shooting %.

I think there's a good shot Bear hits 50 goals next season in Everett.

While there's still a ways to go to get the #Yzerplan fully deployed - my guess is it will be the 2026-27 season - just keep in mind how far we've come.

This was the lineup during Yzerman's first season in Detroit.

Mason Appleton was a nice pick up for Steve Yzerman. He'll do a good job tilting the ice in Detroit's favor. While with the Jets, he received a lot of 5v5 ice time. More thoughts in the link below.

The Red Wings signed Jonatan Berggren to a 1 year extension for $1.825 million. Berggren had one of the better shooting percentages among 3rd liners. Here's my article on Berggren and his future in Detroit.

Detroit selects Eddie Genborg with the 44th overall pick. Detroit prioritizes size and guys who are comfortable when open ice evaporates, two traits that describe Genborg.

Baseline projection: Bottom six forward with a chance to contribute on the power play.

I have Carter Mazur as the #9 Detroit Red Wings prospect for a few reasons:

🔴Likely would have made team last season
🔴Strong NCAA / Griffins playoff production
🔴Well defined role for the USNTDP

If Vladislav Gavrikov hits free agency this summer, he'd be a great fit on the Detroit blue line. A top 3 of Seider, Gavrikov and Edvinsson would give the Reds Wings one of the best defenses in the NHL.

Connor Hellebyuck hasn't put up the kind of performances you expect out of a Vezina winning goalie. Few goalies have playoff runs like Jonathan Quick had in the 2012 playoffs, but Hellebyuck made enough stops to get the Jets into the next round.

Not a bad series for impending UFA Vladislav Gavrikov, who went -1 in the Kings' series loss to the Oilers. His ice time dipped as the Kings played catch-up.

The 2nd pairing d-man plays heavy PK minutes and should find plenty of suitors if he makes it to free agency.

Seth Jones has been a massive addition for the Panthers. In a series against a Lightning team that led the league in scoring, Jones played the most minutes and went +4 with 1g and 1a.

The fact Chicago is eating a chunk of his salary is the chef's kiss.
