This is alarming. The NTSB is vital to the safety of the public and a member may be removed only for "inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office." If the president can remove board members arbitrarily, that puts the independence of NTSB investigations and recommendations at severe risk.
"'This is the first time in modern history that the White House has removed a board member,' said Jeff Guzzetti [a] former FAA and NTSB investigator. … Brown was just over a year into his five-year term on the board."

Next week the @cpsc.gov will vote on a proposed rule to improve battery safety for e-bikes, e-scooters, and other mobility products. Fires linked to faulty batteries have killed people and devastated properties. A mandatory standard can’t come soon enough.
