The start of so many lost hours, days and weeks. Viewed on a 28" Panasonic wide-screen TV which was way out of my price range other than the fact that it was an ex display. Good Times indeed.

Grabbed one with my first paycheck at 16 years old from argos around June. Took it home and plugged it into the big telly and played Mario with my mum. It was fantastic.

Having started with the 2600, then the amstrad cpc 464 with green monitor for Xmas, with an upgrade to the colour TV modulator 6 month later. I wanted the c64 and the master system until the atari st and amiga appeared. My parents got me an amiga a500 for my bday as I would be good for school ☺️

Atari 2600, wooden version, I'd played a TV video game system which had 5 or so games built in such as pong or tennis, or squash. I'd also played the Tomy 3d goggle thing and scrabble but I was late to the game with a second hand atari. Pac man and tank command were all it took.

Glad this game came up. I played it first on the amiga. Played it recently on the misterfpga. Will have to fire it up later.

Thanks, totally get that other experiences are available. Got married in my 30s, was polished to perfection by then. 🙂

Some savage stuff here. I'm married 13 years, I asked the the person I loved to marry me, she said yes. I'm not perfect, neither is she although she's pretty close. Choose well and it makes all the difference. If not being married works for you then fine, but it's worked for most of my friends.

Such a gouda gift.

That looks way better than I remember the 464 games looking. Surprising improvement it would appear on the GX. I never knew anyone who had one.

You should check out a UK comedy gameshow called "shooting stars" where a bird is lowered down hosting questions, its called the "dove from above". Mostly watched by people who are no stranger to self administered psychedelics . Reeves and mortimer were perhaps inspired by marx .

It's very easy to tell that this is AI due to the inclusion of Shaun from This is England on the far left 😄

I seem to see this more every day. It would appear that all connected info type apps are colluding to give you reasons to pick your phone up and expose you to all the other nonsense that all the other apps are providing you. More chance that you'll keep swiping and buy some crap from an app.

I still play this every Saturday. It's one of my favourite games.

250 for a display, that sounds ok but I'm guessing that inflation corrected it would be nearer 500 plus. As a 14 year old, we would travel across Edinburgh to a shop called diamond computers on ferry road. The only thing we could afford was blank 3.5" disks for copying.

It's epic. Really couldn't believe how good it was. I played it through several times and that's unusual for me. Was fun watching my nephew finish it on the hardest setting too. That was a little bit beyond me. I'll have to fire it up again soon. Thanks for the reminder.

Fair play, I do recall some artistic licence when it came to screenshots across all platforms at times. I still need to check out the cpc version again. Great job on the the games of a lifetime book, it's outstanding. So thanks.

Interesting chat, I remember the early to mid 90's, when a pc lan party was mostly spent fixing drivers and reseating gfx cards to get your thing to work. Hours later you got a game going just to spend the next hour farting about with settings to get a decent fps. Good Times. Drove me to consoles

I can't remember the amstrad rainbow Islands looking as good as that! Might have to fire up the mister and check it out.

Ordered my copy also. I've resisted temptation to look at the pdf, wanted to save it for the real deal. Let's hope I can keep that up till it gets here. 🙏

Absolutely fantastic track. I've got a copy which I covet hugely.

This was epic. I loved this game so much. Ran it on the dual 3dfx cards if I remember correctly. Using the modified floppy disc drive cable, seem to recall that it all seemed to work quite well, but I could easily be confusing this with playing quake on that setup. Had a 21" monitor too, a viewsonic

I still love it despite the points raised. It came out at just the right time for me as a kid so it gets a pass on that basis. Still play It on mister most weekends and I'm still crap at it.

Maybe a controversial opinion but I always liked the PS3. The original, not the slim one. The silver section which covers the disc access and has the thin section which goes all the way across is very cool.

I would have preferred the name warthog over halo, but I agree with the metal slug issue. That said, I disagree with myself, metal slug is a brilliant name and it's makes the sequel naming simple and integer based. No way you can get confused over edition release order. Genius.
