Microsoft has been fully banished from our house and the stench of Windows is a thing of the past. This "old" laptop has an i7 processor and 24MB of memory, and with Windows (10) a year or so ago it began to run slower and slower until it was virtually unusable -- with Linux it is speedy once again.

Went to Folsom to listen to Bernie Sanders and AOC. 30,000 other people showed up as well.

Last night we were at the state capitol in support of Ukraine. The California National Guard was there for the flag ceremony as well as speaking about how aiding Ukraine benefits the US (both economically and for national security). We have a President acting as a Russian operative.

So France it is then. The goal is May 2026, which should give us time to learn entry level French, make an exploratory visit the country, find a place to live and board horses, work out the details of transporting the horses, and sell the stuff we won't be taking with us (which will be most of it).

A short twelve mile ride today along Folsom Lake. Taylor is still barefoot and was a little sensitive at the end.

Yesterday we had perfect weather for the rally in Sacramento, but today the cold and rain have returned. I am staying indoors baking scones and bread.

Fight or flight? The first is tempting because it takes little searching to find a country without 77 million idiots supporting an authoritarian cretin. But that feels like giving up without a fight, and so should we dig in as best we can and work to mitigate the worst of the damage?
