It's the sequel where the heroes join forces with an old enemy to defeat the greater evil. In the end they always go back to being the villain.

My campaign I've been running for years has true-neutral beholders within the capital city. They still build power, but do it by dealing in information. They've taken control of general services such as the postal/courier services and the main newspaper. One is "security" for the heroes guild.

Getting real warhammer 40k vibes from this. Just minus the edgelord! I love it

War crimes. I played a bit of Helldivers, so its definitely war crimes.

After reading them, I got the audible versions of all three books. I drive a lot for work and often use them to go through the series again and again (my favourite trilogy). I hope Mel Hudson returns to narrate the fourth, as she is the voice of Kern to me now.

This size of the coffin suggest the cause of death was those ankles exploding and taking the legs with them.

Thabk you for these. These all have their merits, strangely Alternity is so far the most appealing (putting the work in is my hobby!) In your opinion, which would be best for players coming from DnD 5e? IE, requiring similar dice sets or similar character creation. Thinking for easier transition.

I truly love doing this. I pinch offcuts of foam wherever I can to do this. Make them as non distinct as possible and then they are always there. Yours are looking great, you've definitely put more effort into the painting than I do. (Spray cans mainly for stuff like this.)

I suppose that's why I defaulted to disagreeing with your original post. It's become so ingrained in my DM style to allow stuff like the picture to happen within DnD and build around it, that I forgot that its not specifically from the ruleset. I at least appreciate that they recognise us RP DMs.
October 21, 2025 at 2:42 PM
I agree, ive used bad terminology there. It's clunky, but being the most well known and advertised, the majority of those I DM for have experience with it.
October 21, 2025 at 2:01 PM
Due to the accessibility of DnD, its easier to run games in the system for several groups with different wants and needs with experience in DnD rather than balancing multiple games systems and expecting newer players to do the same. Im just saying it can work, rather easily.
October 21, 2025 at 10:51 AM
I see your point. I have tried to state that this evolution of rules as written is down to DMs like me and some of us enjoy writing and building sessions around more than combat and dungeon delving. As you mention "talk to your DM about it." There's many of us who are cool to expand on these things.
October 21, 2025 at 6:56 AM
Im sorry for coming off as condescending. I didn't intend that. I haven't come for an argument, but you clearly have. You play the games you want, me and my groups will play ours. Stay cool dude.
October 21, 2025 at 6:53 AM
No need to try to get offensive, especially when using a cherry picked quote. The rest of the post talks about DnD as if it is only about dungeons and fighting monsters. I said it can be broader. So please, don't turn to insults when the evidence to the contrary is provided.
October 21, 2025 at 6:24 AM
My original reply to the post talks about "sessions" in a vacuum. There's plenty of dungeon crawling as well. It's ok to do both if that's what you and your players want. Sounds like you're already doing that, which is cool.
October 21, 2025 at 6:20 AM
Literally the OP is replied to. Guessing you jumped in late and didn't see this. Hope this clears it up for you.
October 21, 2025 at 6:16 AM
Please, explain why you think its dumb. I'd like to hear your perspective. Mine is solely that TTRPGs can be played however we want and the publisher is just showing this intention. It's our game, are we not allowed to play how we want?
October 21, 2025 at 6:09 AM
Maybe. Bt you've missed my point about it being part of the official written contant and therefore part of the "intended" gameplay. Your UNO analogy is not comparable. Original point though: different tables play the game differently. Don't hate on people for having fun.
October 21, 2025 at 5:46 AM
Nah, I like having a system where we can do all these things and a community that has homebrewed every possible variation of session to slot into the ruleset. It's easy to take those and edit in a short span of time. If that's not for you, fair. But as a long time DM, ive never had issues doing both
October 21, 2025 at 5:43 AM
Dnd literally includes entire sections across multiple books about downtime activities. Your comparison really doesn't fit.
October 21, 2025 at 5:40 AM
I really disagree. Different people play in different ways. DnD is a ruleset built to be twisted and moulded to fit the group. Some of the funnest sessions ive run include town festivals with mini games or relaxing sessions with just shopping and social elements. This picture just isn't YOUR story.

Could weedle out the issue players as soon as they see "No murder hobos or SA enthusiasts."
