So he basically said something that didn't happen to them - and probably wouldn't have happened - scares them more than something that is actually happening here and now, every day to someone else. Therefore, there is no point to even resist.

Delulu. Who effing cares who and how won a war 80 years ago, if you have no guts to acknowledge and counter the nazi threat here and now? While this threat could've been defeated much easier than the Germans, but you choose to let the victim bleed, so you could earn some ego points in a meantime.
