Wasn’t the American Revolution all about taxation? Particularly tariffs on imports?!!

Charisma, obviously! But I think it’s relatively small genomes, and lots of cool crossover into ecology and natural history. Also, the success of the Heliconius Genome Consortium led the way!

I didn't know. Warren Zevon, b. 1947, d. 2003. Here is his last appearance on Letterman's Daily Show, where he admitted he had been diagnosed with lung cancer, a year before his death. "... You make choices, and then you're supposed to live with the consequences..." www.youtube.com/watch?v=giTi...

His conflicts of interest include the Shotton Open Cast Mine and the Brenkley Lane Open Cast Mine, both on his ancestral lands. For Shotton, see: x.com/eratosignis/...

I was responding to Lord Matt Ridley's argument that burning fossil fuels was good for the planet. He had two giant open-cast coal mines on his ancestral estate. Brenkley Lane and Shotton. Did he benefit from them? A giant I-beam of a conflict of interest, it seems to me. x.com/wideawake_me...
