Each year, the WSU Department of Chemistry hosts a pumpkin carving party to prepare pumpkins for spooky chemistry experiments, including flaming pumpkins, foaming pumpkins, and exploding pumpkins. This event is a delightful way to welcome the fall season and celebrate all the festivities.

We’re excited to announce that Paul Buckley is our 2025 champion! With a guess of 1,609 grams, Paul came the closest to the actual candy corn weight of 1,521 grams. Impressive eye work, Paul!

As promised, Paul received candy corn and a $15 Starbucks gift card.
