The Harriet Tubman Center for Freedom and Equity at Binghamton University unveiled a new statue of Tubman along the Downtown Binghamton Freedom Trail earlier today. Anne Bailey, director of the center, said for her, the statue is personal.

Around 100 demonstrators were out in Binghamton Thursday, protesting potential cuts to Medicaid and Medicare by the GOP majority in Congress. They were joined by New York’s Democratic lieutenant governor, Antonio Delgado.

Over 15,000 people are still without power as of this afternoon, mostly in Broome and Delaware counties, after the first major snow storm hit parts of upstate New York overnight.
