Thank you from all of us at Wind River Tribal Buffalo Initiative to all who came to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day on Monday. From the Wyoming Outdoor Council's Tribal Conservation Summit to the Buffalo Bash that evening, we loved seeing everyone.

We had roughly 200 visitors throughout the day!

Happy Autumnal Equinox! It's the first day of fall 🍂⛅🍁

In the Shoshone language, the word for fall is yepani and in Arapaho it's tooyouni'.

Here are some Buffalo photos from this morning.

The Buffalo are not the only animals at WRTBI. These are some of the candid shots from our field cams capturing pictures of deer, moose, and cranes.

The rut here at Buffalo Camp is finally winding down. For about two weeks the male Buffalo have been competing against each other for mates. Often males won't eat and all they do is fight.🥊💥🥇

In the warm weather of summer Buffalo eat mostly grasses, but in a pinch they are known to eat mosses, lichen, bark, and some wildflowers. 💐

Thank you for supporting us here at the Wind River Tribal Buffalo Initiative.

Summer is well underway and the calves are growing up so fast here at WRTBI headquarters.

We've welcomed 34 calves this year to the Eastern Shoshone herd.

Thanks to Nell Davis for the photos!

We are the Wind River Tribal Buffalo Initiative on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. Our goal is to restore traditional connections with Buffalo by putting them back on the land as wildlife.
