The “affordability” piece is 10% at average vancouver rents, the other 90% is at “market” rents, which will be very high at a valuable site like this buoyed by public amenities like skytrain and trout lake.

I don’t think it’s reasonable to interpret “fight for housing” as being synonymous with voting in favour of every market housing project, in every context regardless of details. Sean’s speeches, videos, platform made his priorities on affordable and social housing clear

If someone on a TV commercial says “hey you” do you believe the TV is literally talking to you?

What’s the point of quote tweeting me to McElroy? Like, what the fuck lol. Stop being a dickhead

What part of my quoted post is not true or unreasonable? Sean provided his rationale at the time of the vote. If someone excludes that rationale its a misrepresentation

It’s sort of being misrepresented online. He gave a number of reasons in his statement for his mixed feelings. He made the call to reflect the opposition in his vote knowing he would be the only one. He wasn’t endorsing using public comment as a barometer for votes in general.

It seems really disproportionate to me to overlook all of Seans effort and work so far (and over the next year) because you disagree with one protest vote

Something like 10% of people in Vancouver can afford to buy a condo. It’s reasonable that in an era where basically all new development was unaffordable condos that someone might make a punk song like that

He was just trying to be diplomatic, phrased it in a clumsy way. His record speaks for itself, they’re obviously nothing alike and this attack by Grids is totally bad faith and lies
