I mostly get the vibe of fellow disabled folks indulging in the fantasy of having the danger-to-myself-and-others part of themselves crushed by a loving abuser who takes responsibility for their care.

But having approached it with a spirit of curiosity, folks into it seem to be mostly identifying with a reversed situation of medical helplessness where Curly Takes Responsibility for both the crew and Jimmy’s demons in a differently gruesome way than canon.

I discovered that this existed just as recently. The actual procedure Nope for me re: the real history of medical abuse it invokes. The horror elements in mouthwashing are just whimsical enough and at a distance of surreality that it doesn’t hit me the same way as a psychiatrically disabled person.
