There’s also the idea that regardless of the intent of any given art piece, people will make of it what they will. Will choose to see what they want. One outcome is a foundation for anti-fascism and the other is whatever people see when they view it and still end up supporting fascism.

I actually don’t think Andor is as nuanced as it could have been for the messages it tries to convey (one of my critics of aspects of it). It’s more nuanced than some other SW, certainly, but at the end of the day it’s anti-fascism 101. Some people just choose not to see it.

I’m also surprised and annoyed there wasn’t a content warning at the beginning. I know lots of people who could have used the warning to prepare themselves and avoid the heavy personal triggers as much as possible.

I also have complicated feelings about that. I keep going back and forth, but I can’t help the automatic feeling I got that went beyond the discomfort I know they intended. At the very least, it will hopefully encourage much needed conversations about the brutal accuracy of that.
