Apparently “ground” appears 45 times in my manuscript, which is about 40 more times than I initially expected.

His footsteps shook the ground, breathing heavy and ragged and growing louder and louder. On her knees, hands shaking, she turned and looked behind her. Maybe he’d disappear, be sent back to hell. Instead, she had full view of him barreling towards her, tackling her so her back hit the ground and the air knocked out of her lungs. His nails dug in hard to her wrists. Their faces were inches apart—if she moved her head just an inch she’d be kissing him.
