My fiction self loves #speculativefiction, #gothic, #paranormalromance & #horror. My non-fiction self embraces writing goals & groups. When I'm not fueling my jets with coffee, I'm hanging out on my blog: https://www.jhjones-author.com - come say hello!
I'm editing this November, and YUP! that's how it feels! LOL!

Great question! I love gothic & went in expecting those vibes. So I think it's the ghosts, hanging on the periphery, which keep me turning the pages. I want to find out who/what they are and why they're there.

It can happen! Some writers I know don't read during the period in which they're writing. I couldn't do that myself, but they say reading-whatever it is-is too influential for them and bleeds onto their pages.

I've had a similar experience. I've had the impulse to change the POV in the midst of a first draft. But for me finishing the rough draft to the end first was a better plan. Then I could see my whole story & figure out what I wanted to revise & think through the impacts.
