At work we still occasionally experience customers who get their secretary to dial phone numbers for them, and the same sentiment applies.
It's like at the cinema, when you show your phone, the employee scans the QR code and tells you which screen to go to. Which you already know from when you booked it, but it's nice to have that little bit of social interaction. Last week they just scanned and stared, and I missed the banter.
