"The Fortunate Ones" surprised fiction judge Rachel Khong at every turn. "It's funny, horrifying, and striking--a story after my own heart."

Congratulations to Aimee LaBrie for winning The Rumpus Prize in our fiction category!

“Something Close to Nothing” by Tom Pyun is a brilliant novel, and I enjoyed learning more about the book and the author last night at Skylight Books.

Side note: This is the first book that I’ve ever contributed a blurb (praise quote) to. #books

Had a fantastic chat with Tom Pyun about this debut novel. As he told me: "Part of this book is processing my grief over dating in SF. I've lived a lot of places, and it's the worst of any place I've ever lived."
Tom Pyun on Dating White Men, Navigating Privilege, and Following His Passion
The debut author's book, 'Something Close to Nothing,' focuses on a gay male couple whose relationship is at a crossroads.

I thought about that Chupacabra at the farmhouse, ripping those goats to shreds. He was my fucking hero.
